Create lasting change
Our work
Each program of our ministry is designed to work cooperatively with the others in order to further the gospel. The four legs of our ministry are the Hope Education Fund, Family Empowerment, the Amiina Discipleship and Vocational Skills Training Center, and our Business as Mission (BAM) Venture.
Empowering families
Hope Education Scholarship
Your partnership through monthly giving is life-changing. You are a huge part of changing the narrative of a child’s story. Your support allows Amiina Ministries to meet the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of many of the most vulnerable children in Mityana, Uganda. Together, we are raising up a generation to know Christ and make Him known in their families, schools and communities.
Your monthly partnership allows Amiina Ministries to provide:
- Primary, secondary and university education
- School uniforms and supplies
- 2 meals and snacks daily
- Medical care
- Teacher training and Christian discipleship for Ugandan teachers
Education has a dramatic and transformative effect on lives and communities.
All children have the right to a quality education. When children get that education, their safety is also often secured. In Uganda, many parents struggle to pay school fees, and vulnerable children commonly drop out of school, making child labour, exploitation, early marriage and teenage pregnancy more likely.
Children who have had an education tend to be healthier, earn higher incomes, have fewer children, marry at a later age, and their children are likely to be healthier and access an education themselves. Together, all of these factors help children to end the cycles of poverty and abuse. We think that is worth investing into.
We believe the Gospel transforms all areas of life.
That is why we put great importance on a holistic approach of serving and loving our kids and families. Holistic ministry values every person as a unique and marvelous creation, bought by Christ, and destined for eternity.
Spiritual
Weekly discipleship groups are held that are age appropriate. Each year we hold Purity Retreats and a youth conference. Each child in our program receives either a Bible or audio Bible, and we connect them to the local church.
Emotional
We offer counseling to address the trauma that comes from abuse, neglect and loss. We partner with other ministries when the needs go beyond our capabilities.
Physical
We meet their basic dental and medical needs. They receive a blanket, mattress and mosquito net when entering our program. They have at least two nutritional meals a day.
Education
Each child receives a Christian education. We also offer skill classes including baking, sewing, hair cutting, basic carpentry, mechanics and driving. Our staff also guide the children in career choices and introduce them to the proper networks of people.
Social
We equip our children with social skills such as conflict resolution and independent living, all while teaching the importance of hard work, teamwork and communication. We also give opportunities to serve through service projects and crusades as they learn to be ambassadors for Christ Jesus.
Family Empowerment
Family Empowerment provides education, guidance, spiritual mentoring, training, medical help, and employment opportunities for entire families, not just one or two children. When you partner with an entire family, you develop relationships with the parents as well as all the children, and through your support and encouragement you will be able to impact their lives for many years to come.
Family Empowerment is different in another way, too. Our dedicated staff work closely with the parents to help them develop and implement skills that will allow them to be self-sufficient and provide for the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of their children. By sponsoring our family empowerment programs, you can help them accomplish their goals!
Amiina Discipleship and Vocational Training Center
Poverty, poor education, a broken infrastructure coupled with an enormous lack of opportunity have left many Ugandan children, youth and caregivers without an education and without hope for a future. The Amiina Community Center is in the heart of this impoverished region.
Sustainable, generational change is emphasized through education, vocational training, business development, and financial fluency, all Christ centered and Biblically based.
BAM Venture
Business as Mission
Amiina Ministries desires to offset ministry costs. One key way to do this is through business as mission (BAM). We believe another way to reach people for Christ is through business. We have started our first income-generating project of raising pigs. This project will not only offset costs for the programs we run at Amiina, but also provide jobs and discipleship opportunities.
We are looking to expand to other income generating projects in the months and years ahead. Training and discipleship for local farmers will create sustainable and reproducible programs to help the community.
Thriving communities
Village Savings Fund
Our VSLA program is growing! This program empowers caregivers to come together and save their money in a safe place. With less than 10% of the population in Uganda able to access the banking system, this is a significant need.
The group is able to save their money and offer loans to group members at a low interest rate to help them start and build their businesses. The VSLA program has helped caregivers be able to send their children or grandchildren to school, provide for their families and allowed them to be able to dream again.
Our five-year vision
Next Chapter
Expanding the Kingdom of Jesus through strengthening and empowering the local support systems that support the children.
Restoring and rebuilding families
Through VSLA, discipleship, leadership and skill training, and personal and business development education. We want to go deeper and wider with this program, offering more opportunities for families and savings groups to be equipped for long term sustainability. We want to partner with local churches in other villages to train and empower more families to discover their divine potential and purpose.
A two-year vocational school
Launching a two-year vocational school that will focus heavily on Christian discipleship and education on both local and modern methods of skilling: catering and hospitality, tailoring, carpentry and welding, and farming. There is a huge need in Uganda for skill training and a great opportunity for life on life discipleship.
Training for teachers and pastors
Partnering with ministries like Church of Uganda, Set Free and Life International, equipping and training them to disciple and shepherd their own communities, promoting biblical values. We want to provide both spiritual healing and biblical and practical trainings specifically for pastors and teachers, so they can lead and shepherd the hearts of their communities and villages, equipped and free in Christ.
Income generating projects
Investing in income generating projects to create jobs, develop communities through training and generate income for Amiina Ministries to work its way to become self-sustaining as an NGO: piggery, agriculture and carpentry. We will partner with Farming God’s Way in training their unique way of successful farming.
